Aim to double Muslim tourists, Taiwan launches a dedicated Muslim-Friendly Tourism Information Website

August 13, 2024

Since last year, the tourism industry in various countries has been struggling to recover from the pandemic, and Taiwan is no exception. The Taiwan Tourism Administration continues to expand into multiple markets, vigorously supporting overseas marketing, including setting up more offices in key Asian markets such as Indonesia and India. The Tourism Administration has launched a plan to double the number of Muslim tourists, focusing on Malaysia and Indonesia, where Muslims make up 60% and 80% of the population, respectively.

To cater to the needs of Muslim travelers, Taiwan has introduced a dedicated Muslim-friendly tourism information website. This platform integrates relevant information, including Muslim-friendly certified restaurants, accommodations, and crucial spaces like mosques and prayer rooms throughout Taiwan. By incorporating Google Maps, all these locations of interest are seamlessly integrated into the map, allowing travel agents and independent Muslim travelers from target markets to easily explore Taiwan and experience its friendly and considerate nature.

In the future, the website will continue to expand, enhancing the depth of information for each establishment, such as seating capacity, types of meals, parking information, payment methods, and more, aiming for comprehensive updates. Feedback from users and the market will help identify how the website can better serve Muslim travelers.

To celebrate launch of the website as well as understand more about Muslim travelers, from now on until the end of September, we invite Muslim travelers from Malaysia to visit the website and fill out a travel survey. Those who contribute your precious feedback will receive a useful souvenir featuring Taiwan's OhBear mascot from Taiwan Tourism Administration. (limited to the first 100 respondents). Fill it out now!
